John T. Hayden
John T. Hayden, 84, passed away on Feb. 25, 2008. Born in Alexandria, VA he worked as general supervisor of Work Equipment for Norfolk Southern Corporation.

John is survived by his wife, ­Marilyn; his daughter, ­Patricia Ann Brown; a ­sister, Marie Hayden DeGroot; a stepson, ­David Yost; two stepdaughters, Lynn Kent and Camilla Yost; ­several step-grandchildren, nieces and ­nephews.


Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 at Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte, NC.

David (Dave) Heffernan
David (Dave) Heffernan, 73, passed away Feb. 25, 2008. Born Sept. 23, 1934, Boston, MA; graduated from Georgetown University, 1956 and ­Harvard Business School, 1959.

He moved to Miami, FL, in 1967 and served as executive officer of ­Ryder Systems, Inc. He launched Ryder ­System entry into one-way truck rental, its first consumer venture. He followed as officer of Jim Ryder’s new company, JarTran, after which he formed ETS, Inc., a marketing consulting firm. His later years in Miami were served as director and officer of Goodwill Industries, where he led a successful multi-million dollar Capital Campaign for the non-profit company. He retired to Sun City Center, FL in 1996.


Heffernan is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Joan (Mullen) Heffernan; his parents, Dr. Roy and Kathleen (Walsh) Heffernan; brother, Roy; and son, Steven.


He is survived by his wife, Sally; three sons, Mark of Miami, FL, Scott of Greensboro, NC and David of Miami, FL; one daughter, Kathleen Perez of Davie, FL; four stepchildren, Sue Ellen Duffy of Merrimack, NH, Brian Hinchey of Burlington, CT, Kevin Hinchey of Somersworth, NH and Stephen Hinchey of Meredith, NH; eight grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. Other members of his family include three sisters, Margaret Laughlin of Medfield, MA, Joan Jacobs of Needham, MA and Sheila Clark of Needham, MA; and four brothers, Michael of Needham, MA, Timothy of Bow, NH, Thomas of Montrose, CO and James of Hanover, NH.


He was a communicant of Prince of Peace Church, Sun City Center; volunteer for Samaritan Service; member of Caloosa Golf & Country Club and ­former president of the Men’s Golf ­Association and former member of the Club’s Board of Directors.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Prince of Peace Church, Sun City Center on Thursday, March 6 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date.


The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: LifePath Hospice and Palliativ, 908 American Eagle Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573, or the charity of one’s choice.


Funeral arrangments are under the direction of Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin, FL.


Darlene Holman
Darlene Holman, 42, passed away on Feb. 28, 2008.

Darlene is survived by her father, W.T. Holman; a daughter, Angelea Wood; two sons, Wade Jr. and Ralph; two sisters; two brothers; two granddaughters; and several aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 at New Beginnings Fellowship. Dr. R. Lewis Brady will be officiating.

Jennie Jochumsen
Jennie Jochumsen 84, of Ruskin peacefully went to be with her Lord on March 1, 2008 at her home on Tampa Bay.

Jennie is survived by daughters, Sandra Helen Jochumsen and Linda Cockerham, grandchildren, Doug and Darren Cockerham, five brothers and sisters, and three great-grandchildren. 

Services were held celebrating her life on March 5, at Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin with interment following at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa. Paul Peter Lacusta
Paul Peter Lacusta, 78, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away Feb. 23, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Spartan Foods.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Lorraine; a son, Michael and his wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Deborah and her husband, Dan; two granddaughters, Megan and Michelle; a brother, Mike and his wife, Claudia; and a brother-in-law, David.

A gathering was held on Feb. 26 at Sun City Center Funeral Home. A ­memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan.
