Pauline B. Anderson
Pauline “Polly” Anderson, age 97, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Sun City Center, FL. Born in Denver CO in 1912, she later moved with her parents back to New Albany, PA, where they had previously lived and remained in PA until her retirement years.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Melvyn L. Anderson and her oldest son, Merrill Anderson. She is survived by her 3 sons and their wives, Myles and Myrna Anderson in Walla Walla, WA,; Mel and Linda Anderson in Richmond, VA.; Monty and Cindy Anderson in Warminster, PA, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Pauline earned her B.S. Degree in Education from Mansfield University, her M.S. Degree in Education at Penn State University, and her M.S. in Guidance Counseling at Temple University. Having worked at Upper Dublin High School for 27 years, she initially began there as a teacher in Home Economics and retired in 1975, as Head of the Guidance Counseling Department.
Upon retirement, Pauline moved to Sun City Center, FL. She loved her family and her many friends, she loved her church, and she enjoyed playing bridge and following Penn State football with their great coach, Joe Paterno. She had a life that was filled with many happy memories.
A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania.
Alan J. Pearson
Alan J. Pearson, 43, of Ruskin, FL, and formerly of Dubuque, died in Florida on October 15, 2009.
Services will be Saturday, October 31 at 5:00 p.m. at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, where friends may call from 2:00 until the time of service (5:00 p.m.) with Rev. Dr. Ken Bickel officiating.
Alan was born on February 18, 1966 in Geneseo, IL, the son of Charles and Annabelle (Miller) Pearson.
Following his graduation from Dubuque Senior High School in 1984, Alan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
He loved living in Florida, where he spent most of his adult life. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved his family, and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his parents of Dubuque; a brother, Mike (Kelly) Pearson of Tulsa, OK; 2 sisiters Barb (Walt) Thielen of Phoenix, AZ; and Diane (John) McLaughlin of Bettendorf, IA; six nieces and nephews, Rachael, Meredith, and Brooklyn Pearson, Jake and Tori Thielen, and Johnathon and Dalton McLaughlin; and his close friend, Mike Keating of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
