Buell Lyman Bassette
Buell Lyman Bassette passed away on Dec. 28, 2008 in Sun City Center, FL. He was born to John and Ina Atwood Bassette of Watertown, CT on Sept. 29, 1930.
He spent his youth in Mt. Hermon, MA; graduated from Turners Falls High School, Mt. Hermon School and received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Guam and Japan during the Korean Conflict. Buell owned and operated the Boxford Animal Clinic, Boxford, MA for 32 years before retiring to Florida.
He loved his family, his clients and their pets; the outdoors; fishing trips; his camp in Maine; birding; and nature photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Meehl of Lynnfield, MA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly; one son, Ross; one daughter, Carol Schmidt, and son-in-law, Whitney Schmidt, of Tampa; one brother, John, of Cornish Flat, NH.
Memorials may be sent to Lifepath Hospice of Sun City Center or Mt. Hermon School, Mt. Hermon, MA.
Arrangements were made by Sun City Center Funeral Home, Sun City Center.
Walter W. Fishback
Walter W. Fishback, 80, died Dec. 17, 2008, at his home. Predeceased by his son, William E. Fishback, a casualty of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Velma R.; daughter Judith Brogden (Bill); three grandchildren: Sandra Marshall (Bobby), Kimberly Barsoum (Adam), Faith Miller (Mitchell); 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the United Community Church in Sun City Center and was very active in various community organizations as well as past president of the following organizations: Sun City Center Shrine Club, Men’s club, Hi- Twelve and former Chief of Security Patrol, Sun City Center. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and long time Secretary for Desoto Lodge #105, as well as Sun City Center Man of the Year 1993. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and Hartford Steam Boiler.
He was born in Kahoka, MO in 1928 and moved to Sun City Center, Florida from Hartford, CT in 1986. Interment was in Kahoka, MO.

Ruby J. Mace
Ruby Joiner Mace, of Sun City Center passed away December 28, 2008.
Survivors include her loving husband of 37 years, Don D. Mace; her beloved sister-in-law, Phyllis Joiner of Citra,FL; three children, Sandra Kay Metzger of Gun Barrel City, Tx, Kerry Alan Mace of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Leigh Anne Mace of Orlando; and a nephew Keith Joiner of Orange Park, FL.
She was born in Athens, Al but spent most of her life in Florida. She retired from the Educational Community Credit Union in Jacksonville, FL.
She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held Jan. 9. at 2 p.m.
Final interment will be at the Grant County Cemetery in Matthews, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Mission Endowment Fund, 702 Del Webb Blvd. West, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
Janeice (Dolly) Roenstad
Janeice (Dolly) Roenstad 88, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away peacefully December 24, 2008 at Consulate Health Care in Brandon, Fla.
Born in St. Peter, Minn., she was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Olga Leonard of St. Peter, Minn., brothers Eddie and Spike, sister Rosemary, and by her husband of 60 years, Leonard (Bud) Roenstad. For many years Dolly and Bud lived in New Ulm, Minn. operating Bud and Dolly’s Hair Salon. They also resided for several years in Buffalo Lake, Minn. before moving to Florida.
Dolly is survived by her daughter LaVonne in Tampa, numerous nieces and nephews, and by many loving friends.
A memorial mass will be held in the near future at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center.
Jarmaine H. Verdun
Jarmaine H. Verdun , 85, formerly of Kings Point, died December 6, 2008.
She is survived by her daughter Diana Verdun Braddom, 2 grandchildren (James M. Smartt, Jr. M.D, and Walter Polk Smartt., and 2 great grandchildren (Nora and Margot).
She was born in El Paso, TX on January 29, 1923. She and her husband Clarence resided in Tampa for many years, where she worked as a medical librarian. She retired to Kings Point in 1980.She loved to sew and made costumes for the Pelican Players and dolls for the Burn Unit of the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 11 of Tampa.
She will be buried at The Garden of Memories in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, send contributions in her name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 12502 USF Pine Dr., Tampa, FL 33612.
