What’s Going on in Sun City Center?

As usual, a lot is going on at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce!  We’re bustling with activity from lectures and seminars to Spring Trade Fair registration to selling baseball tickets!

This coming Tuesday, February 26, from 10 AM to 2 PM, Sonic Innovations will present information regarding hearing and deaf services. This program is sponsored by Hillsborough Hearing Aid and will cover hearing assisted telephones and many other services available to the public.  The event is free to everyone and light refreshments will be served.  For additional information, you may call 727-458-9647.  RSVP is not required.

On Wednesday, February 27, from 1 PM to 4 PM, the Republican Club will hold their open meeting.  The featured speaker is Ron Reagan, State Representative for District 67 (District 67 covers the entire area north of 674).  Ron will speak on many topics of interest, especially the new law regarding property taxes and will also discuss some insurance issues.  For additional information, you may call Dee Williams of the Republican Club at 633-1360.

On Thursday, February 28, from 11 AM to 12:30, Florida Knee and Orthopedic Services, a division of Largo Medical Center, will present non-surgical alternatives to traditional knee surgery.  RSVP is not required but you may call 800-881-8485 for more information.

Open registration has begun for the 19th Annual Sun City Center Chamber Spring Trade Fair which will be held at the Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd in Sun City Center on Tuesday, April 8 from 8 AM to 2 PM.  This is always a fun and informative event and free to the public.  What a great venue for members to showcase their products and/or service! Outside refreshments will be sold by local non-profit organizations and inside the Hall, Chamber Ambassador Pat Zaidel will once again hold her lively Bingo games.  All of our exhibitors are members of the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce so if you have been considering joining our busy Chamber, now is the perfect time to come aboard!

Many thanks to our members for their timely response to our survey regarding our monthly newsletter, The Connection!  As a result of your input, we will continue to print and mail out the newsletter each month and we’ll also be adding a few new items of interest.  We were also pleased with the response to our newest member benefit – Logo Links – which provides web access to your website from the Sun City Center Chamber site simply by clicking on your logo.  For the rate and for more information, call me at 634.5111 extension 101 or check out www.suncitycenterchamber.org

And finally, don’t forget Sun City Center Community Day with the Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Seattle Mariners. Mark Thursday, April 10 on your calendars! Your Sun City Center Chamber is offering two packages: the basic package for $25 (valued at $35) includes lower level outfield ticket and round-trip bus transportation from the Chamber parking lot and the home run package for $40 (valued at $65) includes lower box ticket, authentic Rays’ baseball cap and round-trip bus transportation. For more information or to purchase your tickets, stop in at the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce, 1651 Sun City Center Plaza, Sun City Center. We are open 9 AM to 4 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 9 AM to Noon on Wednesdays. Payment may be made by check, cash, or via credit card. Tickets must be purchased in advance; they are not available the day of game.

- Elaine Brad is President of the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce.
