By Jerry Foster where@observernews.net Traveling east on Highway 674 from Ruskin, thru Sun City Center, beyond Wimauma, past the twelve cows on the left, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, you will come to Booger Man’s Corner. This spot where Highway 674 and Highway 39 cross is more commonly known as Fort Lonesome. The fuel pumps at the Fort Lonesome Grocery were the subject of last week’s photo. The NAPA crew consisting of Austin, Juan, and Sam all surprised me with the correct answer (I will have to work a little harder to fool you guys). More well traveled folks include Harold and Ryan Almand (I thought maybe I had you this week, good job guys), Richard & Marsha Marshall, Michele Brennan Budd (thanks for the holiday wishes, and to you as well), Tom Smithers (no fort was ever built, the name was coined by a sawmill worker’s wife), Andrew Butler (yes it was, thanks for playing), and Jerry Alexander (you might have noticed, I take quite a few liberties with my clues). Trekking to the outpost we have Bill Galbreath, Milea Bergeron (a fur piece to go for a quart of milk), Wayne Stokes, and Cheryl Russell (be sure and bring the bike by when it’s all painted pretty). A little sunshine in the mail will always bring a smile, no fail. You truly marvel at the orchard’s bounty, right here in south Hillsborough County. Where in South Hillsborough is this? Send your guess or dueling banjos to 210 Woodland Estates Avenue S.W., Ruskin, FL 33570 or email where@observernews.net.
