Dinner raises over $15,700 to aid victim

Ruskin V.F.W. Post 6287 members and community members alike gathered together on Monday, Aug. 11 to raise money for the Bloomingdale Library attack victim.

Beanie’s Bar and Sports Grill prepared and served spaghetti; The Island Bar and Grill donated salad; and Mango Jo’s Southshore provided ice for the beverages, while local businesses and community members donated money and enjoyed the food.

The fundraiser turnout was so large that the kitchen ran out of spaghetti and salad after a few hours. The Sun City Center Pizza Hut and Chick-Fil-A in Brandon donated food for the remainder of the evening. More than $15,700 was raised for the former East Bay student and her family.
