District Champions!
After falling to Durant 19-0, the Girls’ Flag Football team won its season finale 27-0 against Armwood. With a 3rd seeding in the district playoffs, the team then went on to avenge a regular season 13-12 OT loss to Newsome by beating the Wolves 32-12 in the district semi-finals on Monday.
On Tuesday, the Indians faced Riverview for the championship. The Sharks beat the Indians last year to become district champions. This year was different. After scoring in the 1st quarter, the Sharks scored no more! East Bay tied the score 6-6 in the 2nd quarter. After a scoreless 2nd half, the game went to overtime. Each team gets 4 downs to score from the 10-yard line. East Bay’s Amy Lemus stopped Riverview’s QB at the 1-yard line on 4th down. The Indians took over with Dasia Daniels running 9 yards. On 2nd down Daniels tossed a pass to Janielle Rodriguez to seal the victory. We are DISTRICT CHAMPS!
