Owners Dorothy Williams and Richard J. Widmer, Jr.


The owners are Richard J. ­Widmer, Jr. and Dorothy Williams. Rick has 27 years experience in the flooring, cabinet and countertop industry. He has installed wood, laminate, tile and carpet, built and installed custom cabinets and countertops, office furniture, entertainment centers and remodeled kitchens and baths.

“We have always dreamed of ­having our own flooring store. We had the opportunity to purchase Apollo Beach Flooring & More a couple of months ago and we jumped on it. We love this area. It is a beautiful quaint town. This area is growing and we felt we could make a contribution to the community with Rick’s expertise and knowledge,” said Dorothy.

“Our number one priority is customer service. Yes, customer service is alive and well at Apollo Beach Flooring & More. We strive to make everything right, no matter what it takes to satisfy a customer. We take pride in our work. If we wouldn’t have it in our home, we won’t put it in yours.

We sell a variety of brands so you have a lot to choose from. If you don’t see what you are looking for, ask and we will do our best to get it for you,” echoed the couple.

Services they provide are:
Sales and installation of carpet, wood flooring, laminate flooring, cork, tile, (floors, walls, backsplash etc), VCT, and vinyl, plus cabinets (custom and prefab), countertops (laminate, granite, solid surface), and custom blinds, shutters, and shades. They also provide floor repairs, carpet stretching, cabinet repairs and floor care products. They come to your home or business to measure and give you a free estimate, including a lifetime warranty on their installations.

Rick was born in Oxford, ­England. His father is retired Air Force and his mother (deceased), a business manager for a local bank. He is one of six children. He has four sisters and one brother (­deceased).

He moved to Tampa in 1956, graduated from TR Robinson High School in 1975, and has three children. His daughter, ­Rebecca, is serving in the Air Force in ­Anchorage, AK. His son, ­Richard III (Jimmy) is serving in the Coast Guard in Seattle, WA, and his youngest son, Andrew just finished Heavy Equipment Operator training and is currently seeking employment.

Dorothy was born in Bermuda. Her father was retired Navy and her mother, a homemaker. She has two daughters, Elizabeth, a Veterinarian Technician in Zephyrhills; and Becky, an Administrative ­Assistant in Morrisville, NC. She is also the mother of her granddaughter, Madeline, who is the light of their lives. Dorothy followed her heart and moved to Tampa in July 2007 after she ­retired from the Wake County Public School System, ­Raleigh, NC. She worked as a teacher’s assistant in a kindergarten class for 14 years and 9 years as an elementary school secretary.

Rick and Dorothy met each other when they were three years old. Their families met every summer at Tybee Island, GA for vacation. They hadn’t seen each other for 20+ years. They finally met up again at her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary 9 years ago. And the rest, as they say, is history!

They have two Papillon puppies. Harley is 1 year old and Daisy is 9 months old. They have become their children since theirs are grown and gone!
