Local Author to Hold  book signing
Kim Wirick
“The Boy with Magic Ears” was a labor of love for Kim Wirick.  Watching her deaf son grow up being teased and worse, ignored, she vowed to educate the public on deafness.  Kim felt that through knowledge comes understanding.  In order to achieve this goal, Kim is donating all proceeds from her book toward a scholarship fund for deaf kids.

Beautifully illustrated by the award winning artist Eric Olis, “The Boy with Magic Ears” is the first in a series of children’s books about handicapped kids.  Look for “The Upside Down Classroom” about ADHD coming soon.

The book signing will be on Saturday, March 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  at the South Shore Gallery located in Harbor Pointe Business Center at 447 Apollo Beach Boulevard.
For more information, call South Shore Gallery at (813) 645-0483 or Kim Wirick at (813) 645-3619.

Sun Towers’ Mardi Gras Celebration

Treble Clefs
Chef Mitch Mitchell wowed the guests with his mouth-watering array of creole delights -- shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice, bourbon chicken and fried okra while the Treble Clefs served up some New Orleans standards and old-time Dixieland jazz. The Sun Towers Activities Department, led by Arlin Drummond, provided the perfect backdrop to the event in the Lakeside Dining Room and a “bon temp” was had by all who attended.Guests were unanimous in their praise of the new renovations and the high quality of the cajun fare!

Sun Towers will be hosting their next big event in observance of St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 17. Tickets will be available at the door.
