Patricia Wilson, Nurse Auditor at South Bay Hospital was recently awarded the quarterly Ethics Inspired Award of Excellence by the HCA West Florida Division for the Hillsborough Market. The honor places Wilson in nomination for the annual Ethics Inspired Award of Excellence, the highest honor an employee can receive within the Division.
The Ethics Inspired Award of Excellence was created to recognize employees who go above and beyond in acting with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness in the conduct of business and the delivery of high-quality healthcare. The Ethics Inspired Awards are given quarterly in recognition of those who demonstrate outstanding performance and lasting contribution in ethics, compliance, and corporate responsibility. One winner in each of the five West Florida Division markets is selected each quarter. Quarterly winners receive a West Florida Division certificate and a $100 award. All quarterly winners are eligible for the Annual recognition which includes a $1,000 award.
Wilson volunteered to be the resource person and resident expert for South Bay Hospital’s billing training and education. She has taken significant time out of her schedule to teach and coach individuals who may be new to billing and has even organized off-site training for those who need it.
“We rely on everyone to create a culture that promotes the highest standard of ethics and compliance, but this is one way to recognize it specifically in our daily activities and with daily examples, so others can follow,” said Dan Miller, President of the West Florida Division.
“Ethical behavior enables us to convey our values, share information, treat all colleagues with dignity and respect, and fosters an environment of open communication that allows individuals to express concerns and new ideas.”
“We are proud to have Tricia honored with this award,” says South Bay Hospital CEO, Stephen J. Daugherty. “She has done a tremendous job ensuring new managers and directors have received proper and adequate training.”
