Paul Wood is no rookie to plumbing. He has been in the business for over 20 years. He learned the trade from his father who owned and operated a plumbing business in Oklahoma. He moved to Tampa in 1988 and continued working as a service plumber. “I always dreamed of owning my own plumbing business. Marie and I talked and decided to make it ­happen,” says Wood.
His wife, Marie, in addition to working as a contract surety under­writer also handles finances, bookkeeping and advertising.  Last December Wood took on the State Plumbing Contractor Exam and passed. They opened for business officially on July 1, 2008.

“We specialize in residential and commercial plumbing services, ­repairs, sewer and drain cleaning, repipes and certified backflows. We also do installation/replacement of faucets and fixtures, toilets and sinks, water heaters, water softeners and garbage disposals,” said Paul Wood. Marie adds, “A big advantage to hiring us is we don’t have high overhead expenses because the ­company is based out of our home. Therefore, we are able to pass on the savings to our customers.”

Cottage Florist and Gift shop to Hold Annual Open House

The Cottage Florist and Gift Shop will be having their annual open house the week of Nov. 10-15. The store has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland. The designers have spent the last few months creating a whole new look this year. There are specialty ­pieces available from the Katherines ­Collection at Silver Lake.  They hope that everyone will stop by to see the creations and preview all the newest floral designs presented by Teleflora and FTD. 
The shop will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Some of Santa’s favorite cookies will be served with fresh hot apple cider.

 Michael Porter Conducts Refresher Course
