3rd Annual Business Expo Planned for March
Summerfield is holding its 3rd Annual Business Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. It is free and open to the public. There will be door prizes and merchant give-a-ways.
Vendors can register at the front desk beginning Sunday, Feb. 1 at Summerfield Community Center, 13011 Summerfield Blvd., River­view. The cost is $25 per vendor and $10 for electricity.
For an additional $10, become a ‘Featured Business’ and receive 10 minutes, uninterrupted, on stage with the microphone to speak about your one-of-a-kind business.

Health and Nutrition Seminar on Herbal Medicines and Supplements
There will be  a Health and ­Nutrition Seminar on Herbal Medicines and Supplements by pharmacists Rusty and June Ost from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Riverside Golf and Boating Resort in Ruskin. This event is sponsored by Bill and Louise Smith, owners of Apollo Beach Massage Therapy and All Healthy Choices, an independent Shaklee distributorship.
The trend is clear that people are living longer, but not always in good health. This seminar will show how to combine traditional medicine with natural, organic medicine and supplements, and how to simply stay healthier, feel better, and be able to stay active beyond today’s average expectations. It’s possible to improve your health and longevity with the right kind of supplementation and weight control. Rusty and June Ost, from Cape Coral, FL are experts in traditional pharmacology as well as herbal medicines and supplements, and they will be able to help you learn an easy and very manageable plan for a better life, in keeping with and in support of the lifestyles all aspire to have. The seminar will be informal and interactive, and promises to be both entertaining and educational. There will be light refreshments and plenty of time for questions and answers.
The venue for the seminar is The Landings Club House at the Riverside Golf and Boating Resort in Ruskin. The Resort is a well-appointed active 55-and-over retirement community beside the Little Manatee River in Ruskin. It is located 3.9 miles south of College Ave and Hwy. 41. Go south on Hwy. 41, turn left on Universal Drive and proceed to Stephens Road and turn right, then take a left into the Resort and follow the signs to the Club House. The Landings Club House is an impressive new building that serves as a focal point for the great variety of services and events for the residents and guests of the community. Bill Francis, of Apollo Beach, is the activities director,  who also teaches some of the fitness classes at the club.

Calling all local ‘seniors’
Do you have friends who talk about how much fun (as well as exercise) it is to play interactive sports games with a Wii Gaming machine?  Here is a way for you to try it out yourself -- for free and in a safe, air-conditioned atmosphere. Sessions have been set up at the SouthShore Regional Library on an ongoing basis for you to see just what everyone is talking about -- and then become an expert! Currently the sports available are bowling and tennis.
Sessions for the Winter Months:
Thursday, January 22, February 26, and March 26 • 4 p.m.
Saturday, January 31, February 14, and March 21 • 11 a.m.
 This equipment was paid for by funds from the Friends of the SouthShore Library. Funds are raised when books are donated to the Library Book Store. Many have given books to recycle in this manner.
