A New Record for Holiday Cart Parade

As of November 21, at least 245 carts were registered for the Sun City Center Holiday Golf Cart Parade, which easily eclipses last year’s world record setting parade of 191 carts. With more than a week left to register for the Dec. 5 parade, this should clearly be an event to remember. With more than a week left to go, the countdown to the 2003 Holiday Golf Cart Parade continues. The registration statistics for the week ending November 21 are:

Business: 53

Dignitaries: 17

Residential: 85

Clubs and Organizations: 90

Grand Total as of Nov. 21:  246

WFLA news anchor Bob Hit will again lead the parade along with the East Bay High School marching band, Ronald McDonald and yes, even Santa Claus. The parade committee is providing the funding to transport three bus loads of elementary students from Wimauma, Ruskin and Cypress Creek to watch the parade. Cash awards for the cart decorating contest totals $5,250 and more than $3,000 will be donated to local organizations and charities. For registration information call 634-5111 ext. 103.
