By Mitch Traphagen (mitch@observernews.net)

RUSKIN - The kitten pictured at right is living at the CARE shelter in Ruskin. She, along with the other dogs and cats at the shelter, is hoping for a good turnout at a fundraiser to be held on October 24 at the Ramada Inn on Tampa Bay in Apollo Beach.

The theme for the event will be "Let the Good Times Roll - an evening of the 50s, 60s and 70s." The fundraiser will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dolphin Grill which is attached to the hotel.

The event will include a silent auction, live music from the band "No Breaks," substantial hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tampa Bay radio station Oldies 104.7 FM will have a live remote and there will also be a street rod and car show.

Tickets are available at the CARE shelter at 1528 27th Street S.E. or at the Ruskin Animal Hospital, the Ruskin Chamber of Commerce or Frame Crafters (also in Ruskin). Tickets are $15.

CARE stands for the Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort. It is a "no-kill" shelter and a registered 501c(3) charity that rescues unwanted and homeless animals. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit the shelter. All donations are tax deductible.

For additional information call CARE at 645-2273 or visit one of the listed ticket locations.
