East Bay High School
The East Bay Indians evened their score in a big way on Friday night with a 60-7 win over Plant High School of Tampa.
The Indians are now 1-1 after a 17-16 loss to Wharton the previous week.
Turnovers proved to be the undoing for Plant and East Bay was able to repeatedly capitalize by putting more numbers on the board each time.
The first half ended with East Bay leading 32-0. The second half began with an East Bay 98 yard Billy McPhaul kickoff return.
The Indians showed a new twist by successfully putting the ball in the air, on one occasion for a long yard first down conversion. Additionally, East Bay kicker Jimmy Chapoteau kicked two field goals, one for 49 yards.
On Friday the Indians will host 2-0 Lakeland in Gibsonton.
Riverview High School
East Bay wasn’t the only south county team with a big win on Friday night. The Riverview Sharks took a huge bite out of King High School winning on the road 51-6. The game was all Sharks as they scored consistently through each of the four quarters. King was limited to a field goal in both the second and third quarters.
Riverview evened their standings to 1-1 after a week one loss to Tampa Bay Tech. On Friday, the Sharks will continue their road trip by visiting 0-2 Plant City.
