They're Back!
By
Karey Burek
Yes, folks it is that time of year again. Some of you may be
thinking it is time to go back to school-but I am referring to Shark Week on the
Discovery Channel. Starting on Sunday, Aug. 10 enjoy a weeks worth of bone
crunching fun! Every night at 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel, catch new
episodes of shark adventures. There is one show in particular that I am anticipating. To
start off Shark Week with a punch, or a bite, Discovery Channel is airing a
brand new show titled, "Anatomy of a Shark Bite." Why is this so different than
the other shows where scientists and shark experts tell you that you have a
greater chance of getting struck by lightning than by getting bitten by a shark?
Because it shows an actual shark attack! Yes! A shark attack caught on tape —
what provoked the shark, where it happened, how they bite and I am sure how much
getting bitten actually hurts. This show isn’t for the faint of heart. There is a parental guidance warning
that goes along with this program, so please be careful if viewing these
programs with children. The goal of Shark Week is to educate people on sharks,
to erase the misunderstandings that have been promoted through the media.
However, shark attacks are scary, so view these shows with a bit of caution.
