On State Road 674 in Ruskin, as well as near other south county schools, that means that traffic must often slow from 50 miles per hour to 15 miles per hour near the school. All area schools have blinking traffic lights to alert motorists during the times the speed zone is in effect. In addition to hand held devices, the Ruskin Eagles Club recently donated a radar gun to Dep. Service. "This could help save the life of a child," said Service at the time of the donation. After a long summer it may be easy to forget that kids are back in school. For their sake, keep an eye out for them. It will also save your wallet.
