Median Planting Set to Begin on July 12 in Ruskin

A few dedicated volunteers turned out recently to help plant the median at the intersection of U.S. 41 and 19th Avenue in Ruskin. Although all of the plants are ready to be installed, the lack of volunteers will make this a progressive project. The "Friends of Camp Bayou" will continue to plant and mulch the median each Saturday from July 12 until the project is finished.

The current crew consists of Becki Stafford, Blanca, Valerie and Katie Ortega, Dolly Cummings and Richard Birchmire. They would like to encourage anyone who is interested in creating an attractive entrance to Ruskin to join the project.

Work begins at 8 a.m. and continues until noon. Call Cummings at 363-5438 for further information or just come out and help complete the project.

Partial funding for this project was provided by a community education grant from the Alafia River Basin Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
