World Goes Wild for Harry

BRANDON - It was a dark and stormy
night. Fortunately for author J.K. Rowling, the fifth book in her Harry
Potter series, the Order of the Phoenix, does not begin that way.
It was, however, dark and it was at least drizzling on
June 20 as nearly 1,500 people attended a kickoff celebration for the long
awaited book at the Barnes and Noble book store in Brandon. More

Commentary: Fair Winds to a
Friend

Living in a marina means that you know everyone - but almost exclusively
by first name only. For most people, that tends to make things easier.
One of the first people my wife and I met upon moving
aboard a sailboat was a man we called Terry. We saw him nearly everyday,
saying "Hi Terry!" whenever our paths crossed.
Unfortunately his real name was Art.

Swinging Away a Summer Day

A group of children from The Learning Tree child care center in
Brandenton took advantage of the playground at E.G. Simmons Park in
Ruskin on June 20. Sometimes there is just no better way to spend a
summer day than on a swing.
