I Honor My Dad

By Dale Morrow

All of a sudden June is here! Time just flies when you are having fun. I have not gotten over Memorial Day and people are already asking what my plans are for the 4th. of July.

I am just taking things one at a time these days. Father’s Day is just around the corner and I am kind of looking forward to a little pampering from my family. I hope all of you have come up with a nice plan for all the fathers out there.

This year I would like to do something in remembrance of my father. I am not sure what it will be but I am going to give this some serious thought.

I enjoy the attention given to me on Father’s Day, but this year I feel closer to understanding what sacrifices were made by my dad every day of the year for so many years.

When I was growing up he did not say much to us kids, but nice things sort of just happened to make our lives more pleasant.

He didn’t complain. He continued to work day and night to provide for our every need. By all standards we were poor, but I never realized it. I am amazed at what a wonderful life was provided for me. The wisdom he shared, the pride and dignity he instilled, all with simple demonstrations of how he conducted himself. I strive to be an example to my children like he was to me.

Father’s Day will be a special day this year, as I honor my dad. He is not here to share the day , but he is still in my heart.

This week, my "View From The Road" is remembering and sharing.
