SUN CITY CENTER - It was standing room only at the King’s Point auditorium in Sun City Center on May 26. Memorial Day is a time to remember, to give thanks to those who sacrificed everything for our country. Hundreds of people came to do just that, they came to a ceremony to honor and to remember. By MItch Traphagen Riverview Elementary School held the Cool Character Festival of the Arts on May 22. According to school principal Pam Bush, students earned the festival by collecting tokens awarded for good behavior. Well over the required number of tokens were collected. The event included face painting, watercoloring with artist Lynn Paul, soap carving, origami and the Hammerhead Steel Drum Band of Tampa. Pictured above, the Hammerheads crank out a Caribbean tune while the students make shark fins in the background. Pictured below, assistant principal Dale Nelson gives a student a colorful new look.
