SCC Chamber Names Business Person, Community Leader of the Year

SUN CITY CENTER - The Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce named the Business Person of the Year and Community Leader of the Year during a ceremony at the chamber on March 20.

Mike Langjahr, owner of the Sun City Center Funeral Home, was named the Business Person of the Year. The criteria for the award included being a voting and active member of the chamber, being active in the community and exhibiting ethical business practices. Nominations for the award were made by other members of the chamber.

Also during the ceremony, Jim Cooper of Sun City Center Golf and Cars was named Community Leader of the Year. The criteria for this award was being an effective and capable leader, being active in community affairs, being known to be ethical in all dealings and exhibiting honorable standards of conduct and work for the betterment of the Sun City Center area.

The awards were presented by Charlotte Clark during the monthly membership luncheon meeting.

The guest speaker of the meeting was Gregory Miller, Vice President and Chief Economist of Sun Trust Bank in Atlanta. Miller provided insight and a largely positive message about the state of the U.S. economy.
