Weather is Attached to a Lot of My Memories

I can remember cold winters like this many years ago. I think the coldest was in the mid-60s. The temperature dropped to 13 degrees and froze our fruit trees back to sour stock. Those of you who know about citrus trees will understand. Our grapefruit trees were grafted on sour orange stock, so after the freeze they came back a little different from what we had hoped. Enough explanation on with the story. We had several large Australian pines in front of our house and they fell victim to the cold also. It was a very bad year for all people in agriculture. I remember that winter so well because we were new to Florida and were surprised by the damped damaging cold. I have not seen it that cold since, but I have seen snow flurries several times through the last 20 some years. I guess that I am becoming an old man, the weather is attached to a lot of my memories. My mother and father would relate stories of their childhood and they usually had a reference to a cold spell, rainy summer, or hot dry summer. I always wondered what the weather had to do with the story. Amazingly enough I think I understand now. But, it is up to you to find out on your own. I think it is an age thing. The weather dictates more to what happens in our lives than any of us can imagine. After reading this story give this a little thought, I believe you will see what I mean. The cold weather has made my "View From The Road" a little more reflective.
