The Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra (AMICCO), Gulf Drive Duo, Sandbar Restaurant and the Anna Maria Island Sun are proud to announce the 16th annual Jazz Fest to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m at the Sandbar Restaurant, 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria. After expenses, all proceeds from Jazz Fest go directly to AMICCO to ensure future concerts will be held for the community.
Jazz Fest will feature the Gulf Drive Duo, featuring Bill Bowdish on flute, sax and vocals and Karen Jones on vocals. While the duo performs in various styles at numerous locations in the area, this presentation will focus on pieces with a jazz flavor. Special guest star Mark “Guitar” Miller, known as “a guitar-player’s guitar player” and one of the best blues artists in the state of Maine will perform during the first set and area island favorite Koko Ray will perform during the second set. If you haven’t seen Ray perform, you are in for a treat when he plays two saxophones at the same time — harmony on one and melody on the other.
Tickets to Jazz Fest are on a first come basis, so get yours now at the Anna Maria Island Chamber, 5313 Gulf Dr., Holmes Beach or online at www.amicco.org/tickets/. Tickets are $10 per person in advance (before noon Feb. 12 and $15 at the door (if still available). The Sandbar will provide refreshments at an additional charge.
