2018 Hi Neighbor! event – an eye opener for newcomers
By PHYLLIS HODGES
Hi Neighbor! is an excellent way for newcomers to learn about the Sun City Center community they chose for their “next life chapter.” There were 425 home sales in the area covered by the Community Association in the last 12 months (for which data was available at press time) and the CA Hospitality Committee headed by Janet Ditmore sent personal invitations to each of those new households.
The 95 or so CA clubs and area civic organizations on hand were armed with information about their activities and represented by members eager to introduce themselves. Residents who have been here a while also enjoy this annual event. It is a great opportunity for mingling with friends and helpful to those who may be considering changing or adding to their activities.
This is the sixth year with Ditmore at the Hi Neighbor! helm. She said they keep trying to improve on such pesky details as parking for the hundreds who make their way there. Having an accurate head count is also important to them. “Everybody loves the big cookies provided by Aston Gardens, and we want to have enough,” she said with a smile.
Hi Neighbor! is traditionally held the first Thursday of November at the Community Hall on S. Pebble Beach Boulevard.
