Gov. Rick Scott visits Florida troops in Kuwait on July 4
Florida Governor Rick Scott spent July 4 with Florida troops who are stationed in Kuwait. “I look forward to spending time with our troops and making sure they know that Floridians appreciate their service to our country,” Scott said.
The governor visited service members from the Florida National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves at Camp Arifjan and Camp Buehring. He took them “reminders of home,” which included Florida orange juice, cookies and coffee.
“As a Navy veteran, and the son of a World War II veteran, I know how important it is to support our veterans, active duty military and their families, which is why I’ll never stop fighting to make sure Florida is the most military- and veteran-friendly state in the nation. I look forward to spending time with our troops and making sure they know that Floridians appreciate their service to our country,” Scott said.
During his visit to Camp Buehring, Scott awarded four Florida Army Reserve National Guard soldiers with the Governor’s Medal of Merit.
“It’s an honor to be in Kuwait to award these brave Florida National Guard soldiers with the Medal of Merit in recognition of their service to our country,” said Scott.
“I believe we must take every opportunity we can to thank these service men and women for dedicating their lives to serving our state and country. It has been a distinct honor to spend time with the distinguished men and women of Bravo Battery 3-116,” Scott said.
