I just wanted to let you know the impact of the article about our need for more volunteers. Phyllis Hodges did an excellent job describing how our shortage of volunteers affects our ability to serve the community. When I arrived at the squad today, I was immediately told that we had received five calls and four walk-ins inquiring about how to volunteer. I believe they all referenced the article they read in The SCC Observer. I also received several comments on Facebook as well.
When I left the office, I understood from the front desk that we had received several more calls.
All in all, this was incredibly helpful to our efforts to recruit, and we greatly appreciate the support we get from The SCC Observer.
