‘Club Information & More’ returns with Van Eycken hosting

Without a doubt, there is always something to do in the Greater Sun City Center Area. About 300 SCC Community Association, Kings Point and Freedom Plaza groups, in addition to the area’s churches and nonprofit organizations, are regularly holding meetings and sponsoring special events.
Club Information & More, a Sun Radio 96.3 FM program airing twice daily at 7:45 and 11:45 a.m. is a valuable supplement to the lineup of electronic and print media available to “get the word out” about these happenings.
Listeners missed the show when it was on hiatus for a few weeks for want of a host. The segment resumed in December when Barbara Van Eycken joined the team as its host. Van Eycken said her interest in volunteering at the station grew as she became more aware of the team’s dedication to its mission to “…be a partner to the community by maintaining the highest-quality programming that will educate and entertain its listeners…”
“This is a great on-air opportunity to increase awareness about group happenings at no charge, and we want to include as many as we can. We certainly need the basic information—the what, where, when and costs (if any), but it is also extremely important to indicate who is invited. Some events may be open to the public, others only to Kings Point, Community Association or Freedom Plaza, so any announcement should include that information,” said Van Eycken. She gives a lot of credit to Kathie Koren, a Sun Radio volunteer, for gathering content and developing it into readable copy.
“Barbara has a marvelous on-air presence. Not only is she doing a great job as host of Club Information & More, but she is helping us with interviews as well,” said Chief Engineer and programmer Vern Hendricks. “We are delighted to have her join our talented group of volunteers.”
Information must be submitted at least two weeks in advance to wscqfm@yahoo.com, with “Club Info & More” as the subject. Use this address as well to request more information about the station’s operations and volunteer opportunities.
