Hattie Bar
Hattie Barr passed on Sept. 2, 2016, at the age of 104, in Sun City Center, Fla. She lived a good life and worked hard during her younger days. She kept going by traveling, bowling, playing a good game of golf and dancing a lot. She outlived three husbands, Lee Hawkins, Vincent Foote and Art Barr. She was also preceded in death by her son James Hawkins. She was the head of a five-generation family. She is survived by three adult children: Arley Hawkins, Lois Cassell and Doris Gasper and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest next to her first husband Lee Lorain Hawkins in W. Alexandria, Pa.
Annabelle Creason
Annabelle M. Creason, 97, a resident of Cape Coral, Fla., for the past four months, formerly of Colorado and Ruskin, Fla., passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Cape Coral. She was born July 1, 1919, in Kokomo, Ind., to Harry and Loretta Law, now deceased. Annabelle was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed and always loved. She is survived by three loving children, Barry Creason (Cheryl) of Valrico, Fla., Michael Creason (Julie) of Guatemala, and Melanie Tibbets (William) of Bokeelia, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Thomas M. Joyce
Thomas M. Joyce, 37, of Forked River, N.J. went to be with his Lord on September 25, 2016. Thomas Joyce (Tommy) was born on October 3, 1978, to parents Patricia and Tom Joyce. Tommy was loved by everyone he crossed paths with in his life. Tommy is survived by his father Tom Joyce, Step-mom Deb Joyce, Sister Michelle Price (Tippy) and two grandmothers Louise Ruthford (Nan) and Dolly Joyce as well as numerous other family members and friends. A private celebration of life will be held to honor Thomas Joyce.
Genevieve Lapinski
Genevieve Halelani Lapinski of Kings Point passed on to her heavenly life on Sunday, September 25, 2016, after suffering a heart attack in her home. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 18, 1931, to the late Henry and Dora Machado, the youngest of six children. She was the widow of Joseph Lapinski who died in 2007. She also was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, a son Douglas, a grandson Shawn Bowman, and a great-grandson Olcigi Kelani Perkins. She leaves behind three daughters, Deanna (James) Bowman, Phyllis (Mike) Luman, and Janine Feinberg, a son, Evan (Heidi), 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, whom Gene said made life worth living. Gene had been an avid golfer, bowler and snow skier in her earlier years. She sang in the Kings Point Choir, served on Prince of Peace Catholic Church’s bereavement ministry, gave hula lessons, helped first-grade students learn to read, and more recently kept herself busy running errands for her neighbors and attending live shows and concerts. She also enjoyed playing her organ at home. She was a member of the Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan clubs. Her family is very grateful for the care and comfort provided by Sun City Center Hospice House. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life was held on Tuesday, October 11, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
William S. Moran
William S. Moran, 76, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Oct 5, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julie; children, Lois (Ken) Corcoran, Gerald Moran, Laura (Thomas) Henry; grandchildren Carolyn (Kurt) Russell, Douglas and Katherine Henry; great-grandchildren Harmony, Ilo and Ondine Russell. Also by his sisters, Lois (John) Power, Mary (Michael) Arsenault; nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Boston Latin School and received his Ph.D. in Classical Studies and his M.L.S. from the University of Michigan. He spent his career in library administration at Baker-Berry Library, Dartmouth College, Hanover N.H. Service will be private. Thomas J. Turpin
Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas J. Turpin, Jr. was born in Miami, Fla., in 1935 and moved to Tampa in 1948. He graduated from H.B. Plant High School and Florida State University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was commissioned at Naval Officer Candidate School in 1959. He married his Plant High and FSU classmate Carolyn Davis in 1960, who passed away in 2010. He is survived by three sons, Thomas J, III, Christopher D. (Mary Catherine), Cameron C. and two grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his second wife, Shelia Greason Turpin, of Sun City Center, Fla. Tom served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years during which he completed three tours in Vietnam and attended the U.S. Naval War College. A Surface Warfare Officer, he served on seven warships, three of which he captained. His shore assignments included duty on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon and in the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, DC. Tom retired in 1986. In addition to many veterans organizations, he was a member of several hereditary societies, including the Jamestowne Society and the Society of the Cincinnati. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016, at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City Center, Fla. Interment with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Richard H. Young Sr.
Richard H. Young Sr., 95 of Sun City Center, Fla., died peacefully on October 2, 2016, in Sun Terrace nursing home one day after his 95th birthday. He was born in Waltham, Mass., and resided there for most of his life until relocating to Sun City Center in the 1980s. He was a graduate of Holden High School, Holden Mass., class of 1939. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Ruth Young and his beloved son-in-law Thomas McFarland. He is survived by son Rick Young (Margaret) of Waltham Mass., and daughter Judith McFarland of Sun City Center, his grandchildren, Kristin McFarland, Brad McFarland and his great-grandsons, Travis Gardner and Connor Charest, and also his companion, Doris Block. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and was retired from Allstate Insurance Company where he was proudly one of the first Allstate Agents in Massachusetts back in the 1960s. He enjoyed spending time on his boat on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire and playing golf as a member of Falcon Watch Golf Club in Kings Point for many years. He will join his wife Ruth and many family members at Mt. Feake cemetery in Waltham Mass., on November 25, 2016. Donations are welcome at the charity of your choice.
