It is far and away the largest event held in South Hillsborough, and every year it grows even more, but somehow the Ruskin Seafood Festival retains its traditions — making for a fun day or weekend for the entire family.
It also serves as a demarcation point, of sorts: Barring the falling of leaves, for the past 27 years, the Seafood Festival marks the beginning of autumn, despite what the thermometer or “feels like” temperature may say.
This year the event, held last weekend, was likely the biggest ever, with a new stage, nonstop entertainment, expanded activities for children and a night concert on Saturday night for the adults.
The annual event is organized by the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce. For more information, visit www.southshorechamberofcommerce.org.
