Barbara C. Bear
Barbara C. Bear, 94, of Sun City Center, Fla., died peacefully on October 28, 2015. She was born on May 8, 1921, in Woodstock, Maine, daughter of Pearl Foster and Clarence Cole. An accomplished pianist, active also in 4H and glee club, she attended Woodstock High School and in 1943 graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maine Orono.
That year she married teacher and coach, Edward Bear of Presque Isle, Maine, who was serving in the Navy out of Norfolk, Va. During and after the war she worked at the East Boston Settlement House and the New York Public Library. They later moved to East Hampton, N.Y., then Middle Haddam, Conn. Every summer for 15 years, they operated Bearmac Day Camp in East Hampton, and for several summers they were trip directors at Camp Kineowatha in Wilton, Maine.
In 1954 she obtained a teacher’s degree from Central Connecticut State College in New Britain, and taught first grade for 23 years, first in Marlborough and later Fairfield, Conn. In 1959 she obtained an MA from Fairfield University.
After retiring, she and Ed moved to Sun City Center, where she was active in the Emergency Squad, tennis, bridge, dominoes and entertaining. Nearly half of every year they travelled in their motorhome the length and breadth of North America for square dancing, round dancing, motorhome rallies, elder hostels, and to visit family and friends. They went to Maine each winter to ski, and also travelled to Europe and China.
She was predeceased by her husband Ed, her parents Pearl and Clarence Cole, and her brothers Paul and Gardner. She is survived by daughters Andrea (Darryl) Nicholas of Nekotkok, New Brunswick, Canada, and Melita Campbell of Tampa; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, Fla., on Saturday, November 7, 2015.
James Corwin Johnson Sr.
James Corwin Johnson Sr., age 94 passed away on November 4, 2015, while in his residence at the Clyde E. Lassen Veterans Nursing Home. He was born on December 25, 1920 in Florence, Ala. Jim was the second of five children to Grace and Jesse James Johnson. Beloved husband of the late Rosemarie.
He leaves behind his loving children, Jane, James Jr. and Pamela; grandchildren Garhett and Shelly; and great-granddaughter Isabel.
Together we celebrate the life of an amazing husband, father, grandfather and man.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. A burial will be held at Hillsborough Memorial Gardens in Brandon, directly after Mass.

Hazel Kaupp
M. Hazel Kaupp, 87, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on November 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Kaupp; children Bob Kaupp, Ron Kaupp (Osiris) and Bonnie Jones (Dan); grandchildren Heather, Heidi, Brian and Shannon; six great-grandchildren Grace, Emma, Caiden, Kailey, Lillian and Landon; sister Margie Doyle (Wally); brother Bill Grevelding (Martha); and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Frank G. Mullen
Frank G. Mullen, Jr., Ph.D., 86, was born September 24, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn., to Frank G. Mullen, Sr. and Emily Chestnut, and died October 29, 2015.
Dr. Mullen was a veteran of the U.S Marine Corps, a graduate of the University of Georgia and earned his doctorate degree at the University of Tennessee. He did research at Martin Marietta Corporation, was a faculty member of Queens College, Charlotte, N.C., and Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Mich. He was director of the Midland-Gladwin Mental Health Center and, before his retirement to Sun City Center in 1986, he and his wife practiced clinical psychology and clinical social work at the Psychological Center, Sarasota, Fla.
Dr. Mullen is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Mullen, and grandson, Kyle Alexander Mullen of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank G. Mullen III.
Service will be private. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery. Donations in his honor could be made to Hospice.

Sarah Platt Otto
Sarah Platt Otto, 85, of Ruskin, passed peacefully to the loving arms of her Lord on October 30, 2015.
She will be missed by her daughter, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Her family held a private memorial, and she was laid to rest between her husband and son at the Ruskin Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be sent in her name to Hope Children’s Home in Tampa.
M. Louise Owens
Margaret Louise Owens, 85, passed into spirit on October 29, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Hermitage, Tenn.
Born on May 5, 1930, Louise was the daughter of David and Edna (Cole) Younglove. She graduated from Ilion (N.Y.) High School in 1948, and attended college at Cornell University and the State University of New York at Cortland. She taught second grade in the New Hartford (N.Y.) Central School District.
United in marriage with Richard E. Owens on November 23, 1957, they were married for 53 years before his passing on December 14, 2010.
Louise was ordained a Universal Life Minister in 1987.
She lived in New Hartford for 36 years before moving to Sun City Center, Fla., in 1993, while still continuing to spend the summers at the family camp on Kayuta Lake in Remsen, N.Y. Louise was very active in the Sun City Center Metaphysical Society and enjoyed playing cards. She had moved to live with her daughter in July 2014.
Louise was LOVE. The way she lived her life with love in her eyes, mind and heart is her legacy.
Louise is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Deborah Owens, Westmoreland, N.Y.; daughter, Cynthia Owens, Hermitage; grandchildren Bryan, Trevor and Danielle Owens; brother Robert Younglove, Latham, N.Y.; niece Linda (John) Laccetti, Latham; nephew Robert (Ellen) Younglove, Amsterdam, N.Y.; and several great-nephews and -nieces.
In keeping with Louise’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing may make donations to their favorite charity in Louise’s name.

Joshua Zellers
Joshua Zellers, loving husband of 17 years to Marcie Zellers, father to Eli and Loiana of Ruskin, Fla., passed away Friday, November 6, 2015.
Josh is also survived by his father Peter Zellers; brothers Cord and Zack Zellers of Pennsylvania; aunt and uncle Liz and Tom Adams; and cousin Nadja Adams of Rhode Island.
