On May 31, the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce held their Hat Toss for the 2015 Honorary Mayor of Riverview race. A large crowd of chamber and community members gathered at the Fishhawk-Riverview Rotary Club’s annual Crawfish Festival’s main stage in anticipation of this yearly event.
At 1:15 p.m., current Riverview Honorary Mayor Clifford Kennedy, Alley Cat Pest Control, asked that the proverbial “ring” be brought forth for the tossing of the hats.
With many of the crowd donning their own variety of “hat,” it was time to see who would be tossing theirs through the ring. The first candidate to step forward was Christian Beiter, Preservation 1st Financial Group LLC. Christian was followed by Christine Ans of the Fishhawk-Riverview Rotary Club. Third, but not least, was Stacy Self of Stacy Self Creative Consulting.
The candidates will now have six weeks to plan, implement and host a variety of fundraising efforts to raise money for their charity of choice. Every dollar raised equals one vote.
The winner will hold the title of Honorary Mayor of Riverview from January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2015, and will also be appointed to the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the same period of time. The race results will be announced at the GRCC Monthly Membership Meeting Luncheon on Tuesday, July 22. After last-minute donations are collected, the winner will be proclaimed at the end of the luncheon.
The candidates’ charities are:
• Christian Beiter – YMCA Camp Cristina
• Christine Ans – Rotary Club of FishHawk-Riverview Foundation
• Stacy Self – Hand to Hope.
