Hazel Marie Martin
Hazel Marie Martin, 81, of Sun City Center, Fla., peacefully passed away March 27, 2014. She was a retired registered nurse and director of nursing.
A vital part of Hazel’s life was her dedication to the church, and she held many leadership positions over the years at SCC’s United Community Church/United Church of Christ, including church moderator, photography and publicity. Her interests were many; she was a member of the SSC Bridge Club, RN Club and Garden Club, just to name a few.
Volunteer work was important to Hazel, and she was highly committed to the American Cancer Society, led Women with Cancer Concerns classes, and was a leading fundraiser of Relay for Life. Hazel was honored with numerous awards such as Volunteer of the Year 2004, Florida UCC Lay Woman of the Year 2005, and Hope Award 2007.
Most of all, Hazel’s heart was committed to her late husband Thomas Ray Martin (who passed away in 2009) and her four children, Laura Martin, Lisa Martin, William (Susan) Martin, and Timm (Theresa) Martin. Survivors also include nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Sylvia (Arthur) Menz.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the United Community Church/United Church of Christ, 1501 La Jolla Ave., Sun City Center. Rev. Ruth M. Richardson
Rev. Ruth M. Richardson, 77, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away March 9, 2014. She was a minister at United Community Church in Sun City Center, and was preceded in death by her husband Arthur and by brother Robert Neighbors.
Survivors include daughters Susan Koestler and her husband Ronald, and Laurie Shank and her husband David; grandchildren Ben Koestler and his wife Sarah, Mike Koestler and his wife Erin, Lizz Koestler, Steve Marinkov and Christina Ellis and her husband Steve; and great-grandchildren Erin Mihalko and Noah Presley.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the United Community Church of Sun City Center, 1510 LaJolla Avenue, Sun City Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home.
Henry J. Schone
Henry J. Schone, 87, passed away March 30, 2014. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 59 years; daughters Debra Begner (Karl) and Karen Arnold (Mark); and grandchildren Andrew Begner, Nicholas Begner, Zachary Begner, Mitchell Arnold and Kimberly Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Martha Schone, brothers Aaron Schone, Lloyd Schone and Floyd Schone. He served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Caterpillar after 32 years. He retired to Florida in 1983. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon.
A Memorial Service was held April 1 at Sun City Center Funeral Home. A Committal service will be held at a later date.

Edward Then
Edward Then, 83, was called home to heaven on March 24, 2013. He leaves behind his beautiful wife Maggie, whom he deeply loved. They were married for more than 60 wonderful years. They were residents of Sun City Center, Fla. for the last 30 years, cherishing and loving friends and family.
His smiling face and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by many. May the road rise to meet him and the wind be always at his back, the sun shine warmly on his face. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
