The 30th annual Showmen’s Circus will take place on Saturday, Jan. 11 under the big top at the International Independent Showmen’s Association, 6915 Riverview Dr. in Gibsonton. Performances will be at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.
This year’s show will prove to be the biggest ever, presenting circus acts from around the world including trapeze artists, jugglers, acrobats, performing horses, performing dogs, contortionists, hula hoop artists, aerial ballerinas, zany clowns, more performing exotic animals and everyone’s favorite, the signature of the circus, the exciting performance of the elephants.
The show will be accompanied by a real, old-time, 15-piece circus band conducted by Col. Schumbam. Upon entering the circus grounds, you can browse models of circuses from around the country, sideshows, and unusual sights and sounds.
Before entering the big top there will be a midway of fun for everyone. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Free children’s tickets are available at local merchants. Advance tickets are available at the Showmen’s Club on Riverview Drive or The Observer News in Ruskin. Circus proceeds benefit local charities.
