Two standout Riverview High School athletes signed scholarships on Monday. Senior Shatisha Dukes signed with Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina on a basketball scholarship and multi-faceted athlete, senior Chase McCoy signed with the University of Central Missouri on a track scholarship. Dukes was unable to attend the signing ceremony.
Both RVHS principal Robert Heilmann and track coach Jason Munsch praised Chase McCoy for his numerous accomplishments as both a student and an athlete. According to Munsch, Central Missouri is widely considered a track powerhouse and track scholarships in general are rare, a further testament to McCoy’s abilities and future promise.
Although he won’t begin college until next fall, McCoy tentatively plans to follow a course of study towards a business degree. The University of Central Missouri is located in Warrensburg.
