TAMPA – The Bangles, an all-female band with big hits from the 80s, will be appearing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tampa on Oct. 28. Tickets are on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and at the Hard Rock Store. General admission, standing-room-only tickets are $38, and all concert-goers must be 21 years of age or older.
Guitarists Susan Hoffs and Vicki Peterson formed The Bangles with drummer Debbi Peterson in California in 1980. They combined the chiming riffs and catchy melodies of the British Invasion with a hint of new wave energy. Their hits include “Manic Monday,” “Walk Like an Egyptian,” “In Your Room” and “Eternal Flame.”
The band drifted apart not long after “Eternal Flame” went on to become their biggest selling single from the multi-platinum album Everything in the late 80s, but reunited in 1998 to record a single for the soundtrack on the movie, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. The group began touring again in 2000 and later that year were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The band’s latest album, Sweetheart of the Sun, was released in 2011.
Showtime is 8 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The Hard Rock Cafe is located at 5223 North Orient Rd. in Tampa.
