Matthew C. Aronson
Matthew A. Aronson, an eight-year resident of Sun City Center, died peacefully Oct. 3 at LifePath Hospice House after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Springfield, MA, Matt graduated from the University of Illinois. He became a licensed commercial real estate broker and held licenses in Massachussetts, Virginia and Florida.
He is survived by his wife Jean and son Mark. He was predeceased by son Scott in 1993. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
An Army veteran, he will be interred at the National Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, FL, in a private ceremony.

Carlton D. Goebel
Carlton D. Goebel, 93, passed away on Oct. 2, 2012. Born on Aug. 18, 1919 in Buffalo, NY, Carlton was a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He later worked as an electrical engineer for the General Railway Signal Company.
Carlton is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie E. Goebel. He is survived by his loving family, children, David (Jeanette) Goebel, Sharon (James) Smith, Roger (Kathleen) Goebel, Christine (Robert) Hobson and Cindy McClellan; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Scott Smith, Jeff (Katja) Goebel and Brian McClellan; and great granddaughter, McKenna Smith. Joseph Montagna
Joseph Montagna, 91, of Sun City Center died Oct. 1, 2012. Joe was born on Apr. 7, 1921 in Norfolk, Virginia.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Reggie Montagna; daughter Marcia (Glenn) Dowell; son Dr. Douglas (Laura) Montagna; grandchildren Ashleigh and Nicholas Dowell.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific.
Two years later, he resigned his commission and joined the family business, Montagna Shoes, Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia, where he remained until his retirement.
Twenty years ago, he moved to Sun City Center with his wife. He volunteered for a time with Sun City Center Emergency Squad and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, the Men’s Club and the Italian Club.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center. Iva Lee Roberts
Iva Lee Roberts, 84, of Wimauma went to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2012. She was a member of the Wimauma Church of God and was known as the Queen of SHMA (South Hillsborough Ministerial Association). She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Winfred Wallbrown, and son, Winfred Dale Wallbrown, and her second husband, Leonard Roberts. Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Denny) Ehlers and Geneal (Bill) Knott; three grandchildren, Cassie (Kirk) Boccabello, Derek Wallbrown and Natasha (Nathan) Naroit; five great-grandchildren, Summer, Tanner, Aubren, Ace, and Brennan; daughter -in-law Brenda Colville; and her very best friend, Elsie A. Green. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at the Wimauma Church of God, 5504 State Rd. 674 in Wimauma. Burial in Grandview Memorial Park, Ravenna, Ohio. Ina Ruth Meredith-Smith
Ina Ruth Meredith-Smith, 84, of Bonifay, FL, passed away Oct. 4, 2012.
Ruth was born July 16, 1928 to Charlie Casper and Ida May Meredith in Andalusia, AL. She lived there on the family sharecropper farm until her parents moved to Plant City when she was nine years old. Later they moved to Ruskin where she would later raise her own family. On Mar. 29 1944, she married Ira Gilbert Smith, a marriage that ended only with the death of Gilbert 61 years later.
In addition to her unwavering faith in and love for her Lord, Ruth was well-known for her loving kindness, her civic-mindedness, and for an unfaltering dedication to family and friends. She was especially known for her active participation in the education and school activities of her children. Each of them benefited from her guidance, support and encouragement throughout their school years in all of their academic, sports, musical and many other extracurricular activities. In 1963, she received a special recognition as the East Bay High School “Parent of the Year.” She also received “Ruskin Woman of the Year”. Out of all her accomplishments and awards, however, her most prized award was being “Mom” and “Nano.”
Survivors include son, Gilbert E. (Gene) Smith of Florissant, CO; son, Jimmy M. Smith, daughter-in-law, Mary C. Charron-Smith of Evergreen, CO; son, Bobby L. Smith of Bonifay, FL; daughter Sheila K. Smith and her partner Sheila A. Serrao of Bradenton, FL; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Zipperer’s Funeral Home in Ruskin. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Fellowship Cemetery, Balm/Wimauma, following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rudy’s Agape House, 5624 18th St. W, Bradenton FL 34207.

James Vincent Thompson
James Vincent (Vince) Thompson, 73, of Wimauma, FL passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. He was born and raised in Tarpon Springs, FL. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School, earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tampa, and his Masters in Education from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.
Vince dedicated his professional life to the Hillsborough County School System as a teacher, a coach, and an administrator. He was the principal of East Bay High School and Riverview High School. In 2001, he was honored when Riverview High School Stadium was named J. Vince Thompson Stadium. He was also active in St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. He served on various boards and committees and enjoyed teaching vacation bible school.
Vince is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy, his son Michael (Carlos), his daughters Niki (Mark), and Shelby (Mike), and his grandchildren Vince and Kelly.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the many lives he influenced over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 Del Webb Blvd. E. in Sun City Center on Sunday, Oct. 14 .
