Patricia Ann Samuelson
Patricia Ann Samuelson, 80, formerly of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully, Sept. 21, 2011 at her home in Sun City Center, Florida.
Pat was born March 5, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to Lester and Mabel Hayes. She married Sammy Samuelson on April 20, 1948 in Fairfield, Iowa. Pat and her husband were life long members of the First Lutheran Church and lived most of their lives in Fairfield raising a family, enjoying their grandchildren and building a family business.
Pat and her husband moved to Sun City Center Florida in 1997.
Pat’s hobbies included playing cards, ballroom dancing, socializing with friends, traveling with her husband and most importantly, cherishing her family. Favorite past times included dancing with friends in Polishville, IA, spending time in Branson, MO. and enjoying the hobby of flying alongside her husband to the many places they traveled over the years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Sun City Center, FL. A Grave Site Memorial will be held, at her final resting place of Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa, at a later date.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Merlin “Sammy” Samuelson, two daughters; Linda (Dennis) Byers of Bradenton, Fla. and Debbie (Chris) Munn of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren; Lisa Byers, Todd Byers, Jason Byers, Marc Munn and Meggan (Pat) Lowell; and two great-grandchildren; Brook Munn and Ella Lowell. She is dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lester and Mabel Hayes and one sister, Ruth Hayes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Sun City Center Florida Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Emergency Squad of Sun City Center,or Sun City Center LifePath Hospice. Frank A. Caulkins
Frank A. Caulkins, 93, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at Palm Garden in Sun City Center, Fla. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he was a resident of the Akron area for most of his life, moving to Florida in 1996 where he was a member of Ruskin Church of Christ for 14 years and served as their organist for the last 12 years. He also taught history at the University of South Florida in 1997-1998. Frank was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, retiring as a Major. He was a graduate of the University of Akron with a Phd. in History, head of flight operations at Goodyear Aerospace and retired from Goodyear Tire as an Executive pilot. Frank was a former member of Lakeview Church of Christ, a charter member of Hump Pilots Association, member of American Radio Relay League, American Historical Association and was an avid Ham Radio operator. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Caulkins; daughters, Dr. Ann Caulkins Ogg, M.D. (Ray); Dr. Dorothy Jean Caulkins Erb, Phd.; L. Sue Caulkins Marian, CPA (John); Cynthia Caulkins, BS and RN; Lisa K. Caulkins McLaughlin, BA (Patrick); eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Dave Starkweather of Alliance, Ohio. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, Barberton, Ohio, with Dr. Charles Beckett officiating. Buriel was at Greenlawn Memorial Park. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dorothy, five daughters and many friends and neighbors.
