Wilhelmina (Wil) Frolia
Wilhelmina (Wil) Frolia passed away peacefully at her residence at Heart to Heart Assisted Living Facility in Hollywood, FL, with granddaughter Linda and great granddaughter Katelyn by her side.
She was 92 years young and born in 1918 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She is preceded in death by her late husband Anthony J. Frolia.
She lived in Sun City Center for about 3 ½ years until she needed around the clock care and went back down to the southeast area of Florida, where she had previously lived for 36 years.
Surviving her are her daughter, Hilda Frolia Lindner, Sun City Center, FL; son, Eric Frolia, Heathsville, VA; granddaughters Linda Flanagan, Holllywood, FL, Karen Clarke, Jacksonville, FL, Wendy Reinecke, Orange Park, FL, Nicole Craven, Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons Eric Frolia, Jr., Vienna, MD, Richard Frolia, Heathsville, VA; and 9 great grandchildren, Shawnee Reinecke, Preston Nevins, Cody Carter, Katelyn Nevins, Kami Reinecke, Emma Frolia, Alex Frolia, Chase Carter, and Sierra Rice.
Cremation took place May 28 and there was a celebration of her life with a memorial service at St. David’s Catholic Church in Davie, FL, and a reception at Wolf Lake Park, Davie, FL, on June 1, 2011.
Robert Nelson Spangard
Robert Nelson Spangard, 90, of Sun City Center, passed away June 7. Bob was born in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and worked as a buyer at a major utility company in Chicago. He retired to Florida in 1984, where he could enjoy his passion for golfing year-round. Bob was co-chairman of the Lancaster Recreation Association with his wife, Genevieve, for 10 years. They traveled widely to Europe, Alaska, with frequent trips to Illinois, North Carolina, and Minnesota to visit family and their many friends. Bob proudly served as Sergeant in the Army in Europe during World War II from 1942-1945.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Robert Spangard and wife Evelyn; his two daughters, Susan and husband Bill McLaughlin, and Kristine Spangard; five grandchildren, Matthew (and wife Lori), Angela, Bill (and wife Ashleigh), Katrina, and Nicholas, and five great-grandchildren, Austin, Brendan, Kaedyn, Alexis, and Simon. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life memorial service to be held at King’s Point Clubhouse on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 12 noon. A light lunch will be served at noon followed by the service. Stanley Earl Brown
Stanley Brown, 91, passed away on May 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn. He was born on February 1, 1920 in Chester, PA. He lived and raised his family in Glassboro, NJ before retiring to Florida in 1982. He loved playing golf and was an avid sports fan and a big Phillies fan.
Stan served in the Army 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific during WWII. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary. He is survived by two sons, Rick (Sandy) and Jeff (Terry) and four grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Bridget and Ian. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ruskin, 820 W. College Ave., Ruskin at 11:00 a.m. on June 30, 2011. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
Alan La Torre
Alan A. La Torre, 81, of Sun City Center, Fla passed away June 12, 2011. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Korean Conflict and retired as a commercial postal account representative for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center Men’s Club, Poker Club and St. Louis Club and a volunteer for the Sun City Center Emergency Squad. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Sandra La Torre; two sons, Michael (Denise) La Torre and Mark (Denise) La Torre; a daughter, Lisa Kulage; a step-daughter, Pam Taylor; a step-son, Ken Mosher; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Tuesday, June 14, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated June 14 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Boulevard, Sun City Center, FL. Interment with Military Honors followed at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
